About Summer Projects

Campus Crusade is an interdenominational Christian organization founded in 1951 with the purpose of helping to fulfill the Great Commission of Jesus Christ as recorded in Matthew 28:18-20. When Bill and Vonette Bright first launched Campus Crusade for Christ, the underlying concept was to "win the campus today and change the world tomorrow." More than 50 years later, the mission remains the same.

Today more than 26,000 staff members and 225,000 volunteers work in more than 191 countries worldwide. We see ourselves as an extension of the local church with expertise in particular areas, working closely with pastors and churches throughout the United States and the world.

In 1965 we started our very first summer project to help a church in Ocean city, NJ reach the young people who flocked to the beach there each summer. This summer we will be sending approximately 3,500 students and staff members on over 150 summer projects around the world! Every year our summer projects involve American students, recent graduates, lay people, and full-time Campus Crusade staff members.
