Jordan struggled with needing to have a job.

How did that obstacle make you feel at the time?

I felt extremely overwhelmed and defeated. It just seemed as if things weren’t really lining up as they should. I know the truth that everything is possible through the Lord, but it’s easy for those words to become empty when you feel defeated. At that time, support wasn’t coming in for project and I knew the importance of finding a job. The way I saw it, if I didn’t find a job for summer project then it wouldn’t be an option.

What was the turning point? What made you realize God was calling you to go on summer project?

I originally had another performing job lined up for the summer but then that fell through. One day, I was looking on the internet for jobs and I ran across a job posting for a cruise line that was hosting auditions for performers to sing and dance. I first received my parent’s approval and then traveled to Chicago to audition for the cruise. I auditioned and I was hired right on the spot. It was definitely dropped in my lap and it was totally God’s affirmation that He wanted me in Chicago. That was the moment I knew the Lord desired me to go. Everything just lined up and happened so fast. It definitely wouldn’t have come together if I weren’t meant to be there.

What practical steps did you take during the process?

I started to look for a job before I left for summer project because I really wanted to trust the Lord with that. I knew the Lord would provide but it was definitely testing of my faith. Just the entire process as a whole, including finding out deadlines and raising support, was very testing but in the end it was growing because I trusted God.

What do you recommend to others who face a similar obstacle?

If you feel like God is calling you to go, trust Him with all of your might. You can’t give up, even though it’s hard but you have to keep that faith because faith is the only thing that will provide you clarity. Just the fact you are willing to give up your summer is humbling and God will use that. In the moment it is scary, but if God wants it to come together He will definitely make it happen.
